Volunteer Orientation All East Falls Village Volunteers are requested to attend a special presentation on “Techniques for Helping Seniors” on Tuesday, September 27 at 7 p.m. (Location TBD.) Debra Mondoil, Director of Rehabilitation at the Visiting Nurse Association, will lead the session. She will offer tips and techniques for Village volunteers to use in assisting and interacting with members. She will include how to deal safely and comfortably with hearing and mobility issues.
Kamelot Auction House Event On Thursday, October 20, the Educational-Social Committee has arranged a unique event to be held at the Kamelot Auction House, 4700 Wissahickon Avenue. There will be guided tours of the Victorian and architectural items slated for an upcoming auction as well as wine and cheese. Look for more information in the next Fallser. Thursday Morning Walks All are welcome to join the EFVillage’s walking group—need not be a member. Just meet in the Library garden at 9:30am. Member Benefits One of the benefits available to EFV members is free transportation to medical appointments, the bank, or even the supermarket or a farmer’s market. So far, there have been only a few “customers” for this useful service. We have a number of volunteer drivers who have been vetted and are willing to drive members. If you or a neighbor has to stand on the corner for a SEPTA bus, wait for a taxi to show up, or depend on family and friends, join East Falls Village and take advantage of its free service. Do you have a new cell phone, TV, or computer that you can’t figure out how to use? Vetted volunteers are ready and willing to help EFV members navigate the new-fangled technology. Join on-line at EastFallsVillage.org or call 267-444-4507 to request a membership brochure.
