Cameras at the East Falls train station Surveillance cameras have been purchased and will be mounted to the rear of the SEPTA trailer. These cameras will be a deterrent to the vandalism which has been crippling the efforts of our SEPTA ‘friends’ volunteer group. Repeatedly, the barrels have been vandalized and disabled. Philadelphia University’s school of Landscape Architecture students created signage to explain and inform station visitors how rain barrels work and their value in lessening the amount of toxins left behind by cars, pets and people that eventually end up in our river, as well as other functions and facts about rain barrels. This signage has been repeatedly removed by vandals and is now missing. It will be reprinted and replaced when the cameras are installed. Do you want to be a SEPTA ‘friend’? East Falls Goes Green is looking for volunteers for the spring and summer. SEPTA ‘friends’ are neighbors that value the beautification that has been happening at the Station and have agreed to care for the plants and planters on the station platform. The volunteers get water for the plants from the 8-rain barrel system that was installed to demonstrate the amount of water that a roof the size of the ticket trailer’s can collect. Volunteer duties are to water the planters from the rain barrel system and tidy them of trash and weeds. Each volunteer will take a week (twice during the season). If you are interested in becoming a friend at the SEPTA Station contact Mimi at the EFDC
